cindy sherman

Cindy Sherman's black and whites have a feeling of paranoia or being trapped. Almost having the same quality you would get from watching Hitchcock's suspense thrillers. These images just capture the moment that you feel like being watched. Her subjects are all women in very vintage settings. Maybe hermessage was the feeling of women back then having the need to portray perfection at all times...or else....

jeff wall

Jeff Wall photo's are sharp clear pictures. His subjects are diverse from a messy room to dead soldiers. The piece above really captured my eye. How out of place is it to find a tide pool in a grave? But oddly enough, it looks like it should be there. The absurdity of the image just makes me smile.

teun hocks

The playful Teun Hocks is irresistibly my favorite. His images are creative, light hearted and ingenious. Many of his work are puns on simple concepts that make his viewers laugh and create just warm feelings. His style is very dreamlike which add to his delightful compostions. Hock's images just captivate one's imagination.

gregory crewdson

Gregory Crewdson has a bit of disturbing sense when it comes to his work. Most of it uses a figure as the subject or the focal point. They create a a feeling of loneliness, or isolation. In some images, he uses a mirror to reflect an image that are odd. He likes to put naked figures and expose them in places that nudity is not wanted or expected. But all his images are stories, highly illustrative in nature.
